Replacements for Powerpoint Anyone who works in a modern corporate environment has to be familiar with Microsoft PowerPoint. This "slide show" component of Office has become the supposed corporate standard for digital displays, gaining a 90 percent share of the market for presentation software. This situation can be credited not to PowerPoint's usability but instead to Microsoft having it (and Office) preloaded into almost every computer sold. Unfortunately, PowerPoint is not the best software for any job. This program shares some of the same problems found in other Microsoft products: a high price (over $300 as this is written); inherent insecurity because of its tight integration with Windows and Outlook; and a complicated, crowded user interface.
